Unlike other martial arts, muaythai allows the use of eight weapons: 2 fists, 2 elbows, 2 knees and 2 feet. At extreme close range, such as in a clinch, the knees are the best weapons as they can wear down an opponent. At medium range, the fists and elbows can be very effective, while kicks are used to give the muaythai fighter a longer range of attacks.
